Faith in a mortal man? But surely he will die! And he will very likely make some mistakes, and attract some bad karma, before he dies, even if he is an exceptionally good and wise man. Still, a mortal man can teach an immortal truth. Even on a mundane level! For example, I teach math to high school kids, so I teach immortal truths every day - here is one: "the square root of 25 is 5". When I die (or even if I commit some terrible sin) such "immortal truths" as I have taught to my students will still be true. So it is, at a higher level, with the Guru and His teachings. Those of His teachings which are "The Truth" are eternal - even though the Guru may fall, the Truth does not.

Hare Krishna, please accept my humble answer, do you not believe in Krsna words about this matter? That is true faith.
